Games I can’t stop playing.

There are a few games that have gotten me through the 2020 quarantine and these are some that I am going to be continuing to play going into 2021 and for years to come. They are just so addicting that I would love to share them with the world. Without further ado, let’s get into it. I’m going from favorite to least favorite.

Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 has been my favorite game since I met my husband in 2019. He showed me this game and I have been addicted to it since he showed me. I love how the games are quick 3 minute games and I love how the controls are so easy. I’ll sometimes play this game so much that I’ll dream about painting malls or buildings around my city. That’s how I know this game is addicting. It is perfect for me and my ADHD. The games are so quick I don’t lose focus and it allows me to be distracted between matches without worrying about anything happening. The ability to distract myself between matches keeps my focus on this game for longer than any other game. This is the only game I have found that is perfect for my ADHD. I only wish I would have started playing it when I originally bought it which was when the switch released!

The Sims 4

The Sims 4 Image from EA.

This is my second favorite game. I love the fact that I can create my own life and play however I want. I can live my dream and play as someone who is super popular and has a lot of money or I can be the most evil person on the planet and kill all of the rest of the sims. Whatever I want to do, I can do.

There are a few bugs in the game, especially lately, and this game can keep me entertained for hours, sometimes, but I do go through those phases where I will play it constantly for months but then I won’t touch it again for a year or two. I feel like this is just how The Sims game is and I don’t punish it for that.

Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe Edition

RCT Deluxe Edition Box

I have been playing this game since it released. This is the one game I always make sure to have. I even got it on sale via a Steam sale so I can have it digitally instead of the discs. I love how timeless the first version of Roller Coaster Tycoon is. Yes, there are newer ones but they aren’t as good as this game. This is one of those games I can play while I’m working (shhh! I don’t do that!) and leave running for hours and not worry about missing anything important. I also love how I can create roller coasters that will kill people and yet people will still visit my park. It is hilarious and the best version of this game.

Zoo Tycoon 1 & 2

Zoo Tycoon 1 Complete Collection

I can’t decide between either of these games. I haven’t played them in a while as I haven’t been able to find them digitally. Zoo Tycoon 1 I played around the same time as Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe Edition. I would go back and forth as to which game I would play more. If I had to choose which one were better, I’d have to say Zoo Tycoon 1. My husband and I also own Planet Zoo but there is too much customization and building for my ADHD self. I cannot stand to build or customize as much as this has me do. I prefer to manage Zoos/Parks/etc. It is the reason why I liked the first Roller Coaster Tycoon as well. Not as much designing and more management.

Zoo Tycoon 2 Box

Though I have to say Zoo Tycoon 2 is arguably just as good. It has more customizable sizes for habitats. You can make rounded corners in habitats and you can build water in circles instead of squares. It is more realistic. The gameplay is a bit “better” in some aspects but there is less management and more designing, just like Planet Zoo. So my opinions on that are the same. The newer version of Roller Coaster Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon aren’t as good because they focus too much on customization and less on management. I know there are other people that feel the same as me and it sucks that we don’t get the updated graphics just because we don’t like to customize. I’d love to have HQ animals like in Planet Zoo or HQ people like in Planet Coaster but have it management style like in the original games.

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns/Total Annihilation

Star Wars Box

This has been my favorite game since it released. I used to play it and Total Annihilation on my PC all of the time. I can’t remember if The Sims 1 or one of these two games were my introduction into PC Gaming.

Total Annihilation

You can see the picture for one of the games of Total Annihilation below. It looks very similar to the gameplay in Star Wars. This was the game my husband and I first bonded over when when we first met. Seems ridiculous but it is such a good game and I haven’t found very many people that have played it. Especially ones that have played total annihilation. That was a very niche game and not as many people played it. I can’t rave about how much I love these games.

I’m not sure why they can capture my attention for long times but they can. They work so well for my ADHD.

Well, that’s it for my list! Thank you for reading! Have you played any of these games? I’d love to hear in the comments!
